I AM HERE by Jordan Brooks
There is a signal.
Flowing through each of us.
It stems from a Source
Infinite
Singularity
Spreading
Converting void into the physical universe.
The Big Bang.
Call it what you will,
The waveform
That Is
The Universe.
Comes from somewhere,
Is generated somehow.
Our bodies are receivers:
With hardware and software,
Arrays of antennas and encoders,
Evolved to channel,
To tune into a specific wavelength,
Sensitive to certain frequencies,
Transmuting the vast potential of the singularity.
As this signal goes through our transceiver,
It individualizes
Differentiating
Condensing
Coming into physical form.
Manifesting in our material plane.
We have named our personal aspect of this energy,
Our manifestation,
By many different names:
Me, I, Self, Awareness
Our experience of reality
Our internal world
From the thoughts of our mind,
To the sensations of our body.
Our Emotions.
All of these things exist in their own right,
But they also possess
a representation
composed of pure consciousness.
Our experience is always a perception,
A reflection
Of the strength and clarity of that signal.
Some days the signal comes through loud and clear.
A healthy frame.
Life flows like a dream
Your energy abounds
Exuding Happiness freely
Welling up over the edges of your being
Extending to everything around you.
Confident, Grounded, Connected
You feel like you could accomplish anything.
And you can.
You are Present in the moment,
In total control of your reality.
Some days…the signal
Cannot penetrate the smog…
That we have created for ourselves…
…Our antenna misaligned…
…Perhaps a few are even broken…
It. Comes. Through. In. choppy. Waves.
M.i.s.c.o.n.s.t.r.u.e.d
Blurry, Imperfect,
A wounded frame.
Those days are nightmares.
Everything is wrong.
Embroiled in battle
With your reality.
All sounds have an edge
Like nails on a chalkboard.
Anger
Spews forth
With no provocation.
Directed at everything
And yet nothing.
People seem:
Corrupt, Untrustworthy, Manipulative
Friends are few and far between.
…If anywhere…
Anxiety, Brain fog, Depression
Ongoing turmoil
At every turn.
Suffering.
And Pain,
So much pain.
The receiver can malfunction:
Both hardware
And software,
Body broken by stress
Mind crippled by fear.
The decoder is inherently buggy.
After all
We wrote it on the fly
Influenced by:
Enculturation
Parenting
Socialization
Traumas
LIFE!
We have adapted.
Growing, Learning, Succeeding, Failing
Positive, negative
Zeroes and Ones
Yes:no

We’ve written a survival program.
We call it our mind.
And it does,
Exactly
What it was designed to do
After all,
We’re intelligent programmers.
Or we wouldn’t be here.
In this moment.
Sometimes our adaptation:
The code.
That seemed right in the moment:
Growing up.
Has unintended outcomes
For the structure and function
Of the eventual program:
Our present experience.
But as the operator learns the language of their world,
The syntax of a successful existence.
Their tactics change.
Their approach shifts.
A discriminating programmer explores old code.
Analyzing with the discerning gaze of experience,
Wisdom gained with age.
Edit, Refine, Optimize, Minimize
Less bugs.
Less unintended outcomes.
Higher efficiency, less RAM occupied.
More space for Presence:
Beginner’s mind,
To manifest within our experience.
To be our existence.
We alter our conscious behavior on a second to second basis,
By what the situation requires of us.
But some subconscious patterns are harder to shift than others.
Some,
We can’t even conceptualize as patterns.
It’s just how we exist.
Our experience of the world.
Coded from the ground up,
From birth.
A program unique to each and every one of us:
Quale
Some of our learned behaviors
leave us unprepared for certain situations.
Our operating system seizes up.
Sometimes we encode conflicting behaviors.
Our mind fights itself,
Hates itself
Doubts
Imprisons.
Yet,
We are simultaneously:
the Expert
the Warden
the Guards
the Prisoner
the Architect
the Coder
the Hacker
the Beginner
Why live in a self-manufactured prison,
When you have the keys?
You should be able to just walk out.
Never look back.
But,
You can’t…
If it the path were that simple,
There would be no suffering.
But it is that simple.
Just focus on the breath…
Be aware of only the breath,
The silence,
And the present moment.
Be spontaneous:
Beginner’s mind
Don’t dwell in the past.
Don’t cast yourself into the future.
BE HERE NOW.
ZEN.
ENLIGHTENMENT.
The procedure is simple.
But…
Simple.
Does not.
Equate.
To
Easy.
Our conscious mind is the wave:
The program.
The internal and external
Continuous experience of ourselves.
Our subconscious is the ocean:
The code running in the background,
Giving rise to the experience.
We can think about thinking,
We do it reflexively.
All day long.
Associating,
Communicating,
From our self.
To our self.
With our self.
Spherical awareness
But do we stop to consider:
That every moment that passes,
Every thought,
Every judgement,
Every perception,
Fundamentally alters the structure of our mind.
Synapses
Sprouting
Dying
Growth and Decay
Never ceasing
For the most part,
This is an unconscious process.
But we can learn to direct it.
Subtly at first.
Cultivating expanded awareness.
Developing a sense,
Of the infinite depth,
Beneath the surface:
Silence, Calm, Presence
It begins…
…And ends
With the breath.
In:
Expanding
Rising
Out:
Contracting
Grounding
In…
